About the event

Neysa Koizumi from Digital Waitaha is running a fun and engaging digital safety and wellbeing workshop for parents and whānau to help keep our children safe online.

Raising digital citizens is something other generations of parents haven’t had to deal with, and there's a lot to navigate! Come along for support and advice that will be useful for parents of children aged 0 and up.  FREE childcare and a sausage sizzle (for adults and kids!), kindly provided by Rakaia School, who are hosting us. We hope to see parents and caregivers who have children at preschool, primary and/or secondary school. This is an event open to all, but we ask you to please register in good time so we can organise sufficient catering/ childcare.

Join this FREE workshop to;

  • Confidently talk about digital safety
  • Become aware of local issues affecting tamariki
  • Become knowledgeable about popular apps and games and their benefits and dangers
  • Understand how to guide children to be safe and well online
  • Understand the BEST techniques for parenting digital citizens
  • Confidently use the STOP, BLOCK & TALK® digital safety strategy
  • Know what a digital footprint is and how it will affect future opportunities for all children

Neysa has over 20 years of experience in IT and has extensively researched digital safety and wellbeing. She is passionate about empowering individuals to be safe, responsible, and digital citizens. In addition to her work with Digital Waitaha, she is a mother and a CORE Education facilitator. Neysa will be able to present local data as well as other stats about what children are doing and experiencing online.
